Araguani offers rich, complex aromatics of warm raisin, chestnut and licorice notes alongside toasted flavors, all set against a distinctively bitter backdrop. Araguani, Single Origin* Venezuela, A Valrhona full-bodied dark chocolate Grand Cru with sweet spice and slightly woody notes, with *cocoa beans from the Sur del Lago region (Las Virtudes, Tucani).
In Venezuela, the unique flavor of ARAGUANI comes from a prime example of rich land-sea soils found where the plantations in the Andean foothills meet the sea swept coastline of the Caribbean. Starting in the 1990s, Valrhona set out to protect and foster the diversity of Venezuelan cacaos through efforts like acquiring the El Pedregal plantation in 1992 to save an endangered cacao variety called Porcelana. ARAGUANI is the product of Valrhona's efforts to restore and blend ancient bean varieties originating from many different locales in the country's highly acclaimed northwestern growing region.
A Valrhona partner since 2016, Cacao San José is a family business that has been producing high-quality cocoa since 1830 in the crop’s ancestral home, Venezuela. It grows Criollo, a cocoa with a fine, woody aroma which is also a symbol of resilience and national pride. It is committed to social well-being and sustainability, which is why 100% of its plots have been geolocated since 2022.
